I consider myself lucky to have gained experience in several industries and exposure to diverse people during the last 20+ years as a CPA in corporate finance. Driven and passionate, I loved helping business by leading initiates that created impactful changes. If I was honest with myself, my life was all about work. That changed after getting the opportunity to watch a figure skating competition when Vancouver was preparing for 2010 Winter Olympic. Watching the figure skaters, it reminded me of how much I enjoyed skating as a child and how when I was old enough to babysit, saved up enough money to pay for lessons for one season.
So with that memory I pulled out my skates that I had held on to all those years and went to the adult lunch time skate near my office. It was not like riding a bike. It took me three times out before I no longer needed to hold on to the side boards. I was having fun and kept with it and even invested in new figure skates, lessons and joined the local figure skating club. Each time out, with practice and perseverance, I was rewarded with improved skills, new friends and a skating family.
